A New Beginning

After our AGM and special meeting we had decided on two club runs from now on. This was the first of those runs. Again Todger had done the honorable thing and offered to go with the A run to ensure they actually went. The B run was lead by the Greek this week. This is what I was looking for.

The run was an easy pace. Not a dawdle but no killing each other. There were chances for having a chat and also the good natured mickey taking that makes this club. Yes I do mean taking the p**s but it is not always as nasty as that sounds. It is especially annoying as Dave seems to be going fairly well at the moment. But it is the off season and you win no prizes for being first on a club run. Are you listening Bob?

Back to this ride. The stop was the usual airfield cafe. The A run and about 3 other clubs were there before we arrived. This meant there was an extremely long queue for a cup of tea. The A run were leaving just as we sat down. Poor timing as we were hoping that we would at least be able to meet up at the cafe.

The run back was more of the same. A different route home was an interesting change. No Gorcot or Ullenhall. Dave again attempting to stir things up as we cam back into Hockley.

As a departure from the single run which I must admit I was not totally in favour of, this was a great ride and I really enjoyed it. The only downside is that we are not seeing everyone in the club. Maybe if we can sort the timing out we can at least meet up at the cafe. I hope the A run had a good time.

Mr Todgers A Run Report

Too many people out on lightweight, non-mudguard bikes with nice quick tyres.

However, I'm sticking to my slow winter tyres as it must be good for me!

Pace not too bad, and I was quite happy sitting in. However, I did find sessions on the front into the wind hard going, and my legs suffered a bit too much on the way out.

But we stayed together all the way, even up the hills! Hockley Heath, Lowsonford, Shrewley, Hatton, down into Warwick, out on Banbury road, over M40 then into Wellesbourne village from the West.

After the break we went to Stratford, then past the Shire Horse to Welford and up through Binton. I got held up with the traffic at Welford X-roads and THEY WAITED ON THE HILL!!!

Mother Huff Cap then up and over towards Studley. Still together on the climbs. Then I was very, very glad to peel off towards Studley and a slow and painful climb up The Slough, over the Ridgeway to lunch.

What happened after Ullenhall I can't report on.

I enjoyed the ride and I'm sure a succession of these will do me good.
